A Question of Identity

As you may know, Mercury stations direct on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 3:04 CDT. This occurs at 5 degrees 38 arc-minutes Pisces.

As a result of the activity surrounding me, I realized something today. This Mercury station makes nearly an exact square to my natal sun (at 5 degrees 24 arc-minutes Gemini).

Within the sun sign version of the natal chart, the sun is always placed in the first house – the house of self-identity. In my Rising sign natal chart, the sun is in my 10th house, which in part represents how I am seen by others. Sun in the 10th house therefore represents an external ID.

The combination for me personality is all about how I think of myself and how others speak of me. It probably wouldn’t surprise you that in this very moment, I’m struggling with that very thing. There’s a lot more to the story, but it’s not yet the time to share more.

The reason for bringing this up is that there are four specific places in the Zodiac that may be affected in this same or a similar way. If your birthday is on or around the following dates, pay special attention:

  • February 23,
  • May 26,
  • August 28,
  • November 27

Those born +/- 5 days of the above have the sun within the first 10 degrees of a mutable sign: Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius. Mutable signs are, generally speaking, more susceptible to outside opinion. So how others identify them affects (more significantly) how they identify themselves.

It is my feeling that those above can easily be at a juncture. Mercury’s station is reason to pause. Once it turns around, we will be called upon to choose the words we will use in our bio – at least for the coming cycle.

Consider how you call yourself. Choose wisely the labels you put on. If you are born under a mutable sun, you likely have many hats, but it is not necessary for you to wear them all publicly and at the same time.

I’m sure everyone is feeling the urgency of Mars and Uranus in Aries, which are nearing conjunction. Spring is less than a week away. Mercury has yet to turn around, but shortly after that he’ll be prodding you as well.

Enjoy the pause while it’s here.
