Have you ever noticed how easily children fall into states of utter selfishness and brattiness?
- “This is mine and you can’t have it.”
- “No, I don’t want to do that.”
- “Let me do it!”
- “I want ice cream and I want it now!”
I have to confess, I’ve had my bratty moments too!
- “How do you expect me to do my job if you can’t do yous?”
- “The least you could do is start me off with the right information!”
- “If you take too long, then I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to help you.”
The past two days, I’ve been quite the brat, but only to and with myself. I have sent off some emails, but I think I tempered myself adequately.
Now imagine my glee when a dear friend texted me and told me of her bratty attitude! The circumstances were different for her, but the brattiness really struck me.
Kids fall into selfishness easily because they are right! What is theirs is theirs and no, you can’t have it. Yes they deserve to have what they want and right now. And no, you don’t get to make all the rules…even if you are an adult.
Kids know their power and their worth. They know that they are deserving, at least until someone trains them out of it. When they fall out of alignment, it doesn’t feel good and it makes them mad! It is perfectly natural for a child to slip into brattiness when they temporarily lose their connection.
You’ve also noticed, I’m sure, how quickly their glee returns once things are back their way.
So, to my way of thinking, brattiness is en route to what we really want. Maybe you’re tired of waiting. Maybe you’ve had enough of the (seeming) unfairness of life. You do deserve it, damn it!
If any of you, like my friend and I, have been feeling bratty lately, I think I know why. Mars, the archetypal adolescent, has recently entered his ruling sign of Aries. Mars and Aries are full of energy. Their greatest desire is to go and go now! Patience is not a trait of either Mars or Aries.
When I do Natal Chart readings, I use both the rising sign chart (based on the moment you were born) and the sun sign chart (which places your sun sign as the first house). In this regard, every planet in the chart essentially has three flavors. Since the sun is always placed in the first house in the sun sign chart, one of the flavors we all have for our sun is Aries.
This makes complete sense. Each and every one of us is an individual who, to some degree or another, is creating our own identity and expressing who we are to the world. We are all Aries to some degree!
With Mars having moved into Aries, we could be feeling energized. Mars is fixing to transit my Chiron in early Aries and let me tell you, the energy has been surging through my body. Unfortunately, the avenues for expressing that energy weren’t quite open (at first) and boy did I feel frustrated…and bratty!
Let your inner brat out. Have a fit! Yes, it is best to do this on your own…unless you’re really up for a bit of confrontation.
I suggest sitting down and writing (or yelling out loud) some of what’s on your mind. Say things like:
- I am sick and tired of waiting!
- I want (x, y, and z) and I want it now!
- I deserve to be happy.
- I deserve to make (more) money.
- I am a good person, damn it!
- I do a lot for other people and I deserve more.
- I just want to win for a change, is that too much to ask?
- I’ve put in my time, and now it’s time I get something back!”
Be as bratty as you like because you know what, chances are, your inner brat is going to speak the truth. Yes you deserve love and money and ease and success and respect and joy and sex and to lose a few pounds. You do deserve a hell of a lot more than you’ve got! So be bratty and yell at the Universe. Trust me, the Universe won’t get its feelings hurt. Get that energy out…and then let the vibrations settle back down.
I asked to feel more energized. And that showed up. Then I asked for productive venues to channel that energy. And then they showed up. Now I feel pretty good!
Mars will be in Aries until Valentine’s day morning. You have plenty of time to work with it!
One of my intentions for 2019 is to ask loudly and clearly, to not hold back, and then work on receiving. For too long, I’ve felt bad about my asking…my wanting. I’ve told myself I should be further along.
Screw that! When I want something, I am going to ask, damn it. I am going to make sure the Universe hears me!
After that, I’ll work on getting into the receptive mode and letting it in!
